I agree with a lot of this article and don't think that being a mother is better or worse than being without children -- it's just different. However, this statement shows a lack of understanding of the fact that children are society's responsibility, too. You'll benefit from my kids one day. They'll pay your social security, they'll be your doctor when you're old, they'll keep the economy going when we aren't up to it anymore. We all benefit from kids, and so we all bear some responsibility for them. That doesn't mean you have to babysit other people's kids, but you need to acknowledge that it's to your benefit to make sure they have what they need to thrive. It's a collective effort that literally cannot be done by one parent alone.
